Icky Week
Its a rough week. It started off fun, chillin’ at my friend’s salon to learn all the receptionist duties so that I can help him out on Saturday Afternoons. Sometime around lunchtime (not sure if it was before or after I went out for a peanut butter banana coco smoothie with plant protein shot), the side of my right foot started itching, like a bug bite. Soon, both my feet were itching. By the time I left the salon, I couldn’t wait to get home, get my shoes off and take some Benedryl. Big surprise, by the time I got off the train, and walked the two blocks from the station to my apartment in bare feet, my feet were swollen, red and painful, and now I had hives in random clusters from my knees to my shoulders. I started the Benedryl immediately and realized this wasn’t a bug bite. By the way, falling asleep and staying asleep when you feel like you have cold sores all over you, very very hard!
Sunday morning, I went to the Urgent Care, paid $75 and got a shot in my butt and a rx for steroids. The hives started calming down immediately, so I think it was worth it. Also the doctor told me to keep my feet elevated so that the swelling would go down faster and I’d be able to run my Labor Day 10K. Even harder to sleep with your feet elevated and have hives.
Monday morning, I felt better. My feet didn’t hurt and the swelling was gone. I ran my 10k.. slowly. By the end of the race, my feet hurt again. I still had to get back home and then decided to go out for lunch and get groceries after a nap. All told, I ran or walked about 10 miles on Monday. Probably over did it, since I ended up leaving work early on Tuesday and passing out at home.
Yesterday, I made it through a whole work day. Twelve hours, due to an early meeting and not having anyone to work late (vacations). My boss called me upstairs in the afternoon and discussed communication with me. Apparently I’m dropping the ball, and I hate that I take work feedback personally.
So when I left work, I really wanted to call LL and ask him to come cuddle with me so that I could fall asleep easier. It really doesn’t help that Benedryl is like speed for me and I was shaking and muzzyheaded all day. And I can’t call him because I told him not to call me any more. And then I cried while walking to the bus, for no reason other than I don’t feel good and I have no one to come comfort me. My roommate is in Europe and I haven’t found a replacement guy for LL yet.
Today will be better, right? It is the last day of the medicine… And yes, I will call my doctor today to schedule allergy testing.
